The story behind it
Brynja is the Old Norse word for a mail shirt: thousands of small iron rings linked into a coat. Almost none survive. The only Viking-age mail shirt found in Scandinavia came from a 10th-century grave at Gjermundbu, Norway, in about 85 fragments.
This ring is a stylised take, not a replica: interlocking links around the band, worn edges and darkened recesses, 8.7mm wide.
