The story behind it
A ring could carry an oath. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle records the Danish army swearing to King Alfred on their holy ring in 876. Eyrbyggja saga describes a twenty-ounce ring kept in a temple, on which every oath was sworn.
This pendant is a stylised take, not a replica of a find: an open circle, 28mm across, ringed with engraved Elder Futhark runes.
